London - Low Emission Zone
|
|
Low Emission Zone How it worksThe Low Emission Zone (LEZ) is enforced using fixed and mobile cameras which will read your vehicle's registration number plate as you drive within the zone. This will then be checked against a database of registered vehicles which meet the LEZ emissions standards, are exempt from the charge or are registered for a 100 per cent discount. If your vehicle doesn't meet the LEZ emission standards or qualify for an exemption or discount, you will have to pay the daily charge. Warning letters TfL will issue a warning letter to the registered keeper of a vehicle identified as non-compliant on the first occasion that it is seen in the LEZ. From the date of issue of the warning letter, registered keepers will have 28 days to take action. This could include, for example, making the vehicle compliant or contacting TfL if the warning letter has been issued in error. If the same vehicle is driven in the zone within the 28 day period, a Penalty Charge will not be incurred. After the 28 day period has expired, if the vehicle remains non-compliant and is seen in the LEZ again without the daily charge having been paid, the registered keeper of the vehicle may receive a PCN. |
