December 2009

Hi All
And firstly may I wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

MILITARY AND FLYING MACHINES

We are moving ahead with planning the 2010 Military and Flying Machines Show which is coming along well at this stage we are already receiving vehicle entries and living history group entries are already in double figures.

PAINT

I have been approached by a paint company selling their services, as you are well aware obtaining the correct paint is always an issue so these guys look like they might be able to assist in your search.
Pronto Industrial Paints specialise in the manufacture of the paint systems for industry. These paint systems can be tailored to suit all applications e.g. spray, brush and or roller. We are able to manufacture colours to BS, RAL and even customers own pattern.

MILITARY MOTORCYCLE RUN FROM LANDS END TO JOHN O'GROATS

Commencing the 17th, of July 2010 there will be a Military Motorcycle   Run from Lands End to John O’ Groats.
The run will be divided into seven ‘legs’ and riders can choose to either do the whole run or one or more ‘legs’. Any British Forces Motorcycle presented in a Military specification is eligible for the run.

All riders wishing to take part will be required to raise sponsorship, with all the money raised being donated to the Help for Heroes Fund.   Owners of other military vehicles can also be involved in the fund raising effort  as it is planned to have a group collecting money and providing a focal point for the arrival of the bikes in one town of each ‘leg’ of the run.  It is hoped these stops will be organised by the MVT groups in the county that the run passes through.
More details on this site.

NEW OPEN GENERAL EXPORT LICENCE (OGEL)

We have been advised that theThe Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) have announced the introduction of a new Open General Export Licence (OGEL) for Historic Military Vehicles and Artillery Pieces, which took effect from the 1st November 2009.

In summary, MVs less than 50 years old, and certain de-activated artillery pieces, are now covered by the new OGEL, in addition to vehicles over 50 years old. Click for new regulations & links to the Export Control Organisation

NOTE:  For those who have already registered for the previous OGEL (Historic Military Vehicles), their registration details will automatically be transferred to the new amended licence so they will not need to re-register.

WINTER GATHERING

Just a reminder we have the Winter Gathering (AKA Bum Freezer) on 17th Jan  (put a link in here?)all is progressing well on this and it looks like its going to be a great day. Remember this event will take place whatever the weather!!  It would not be the first time we have been snowed on, almost blown away or heavily rained on! We have also had a fair few of bright sunny ones as well! Please try to make it even if not in a vehicle as it would be great to support us in this event.

REMINDER

As usual no meeting in December, the next meeting on Jan 28 will be the AGM

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM ALL AT THE ESSEX AREA MVT
